NFBB – Happy New Year 2012

First message of 2012

Speaker: Pastor Adams

In 1963, when prayer was removed from schools. Until then, we were a God-fearing nation.   They decided against prayer in schools because of this prayer that school children were praying: “Almighty God, we acknowledge our dependence upon thee and we beg thy blessings upon us, our parents, our teachers and our country.”   Those against prayer in schools said that prayer and the commandments would harm our children psychologically! However since then, the state of our nation has deteriorated and sin has escalated. Statistics prove that divorce, disease, immorality has increased.

Vidal v. Girard in 1844 ruled that America was a Christian nation! It was a crime to attack Jesus then because it was seen as an attack against our nation. How far we have come now.   George Washington stood for God and for that he was protected in battles! Later in his life, an Indian chief that was one of the shooters confronted Washington, he called him the “man that couldn’t die.” Why? Because he believed in Jesus Christ.   God chose this nation to glorify His name. How dare us to turn our backs on God! We are agreeing with the World by keeping our mouths closed.

 Jeremiah 6:11-16

Jeremiah 6:14

14They have healed also the hurt of the daughter of my people slightly, saying, Peace, peace; when there is no peace.

v 14 – America cries peace through treaties etc but there is no peace!

Jeremiah 6:16

16Thus saith the LORD, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. But they said, We will not walk therein.

v 16 – Here is the instruction to get back to where we need to be! Let us not refuse as they did in Jeremiah.     We’ve got to go back God’s way! We’ve got to make some changes in our home before we can go into the hedges and the highways!   Men must return to the place of leadership!   People want affirmation, but affirmation is going to come from simplification!   We’ve made the gray areas to wide. We’ve erased absolutes but God said let your yay be yay and your nay be nay! That’s simplification!   Because man fell, there was a need for the commandments and because of man, there had to be a second set written! (Moses got mad and broke the first set!)

Preachers have become afraid to speak the truth because people may leave, persecute them! Well, we are all going to be persecuted so you may as well cry aloud and spare not!   The enemy is not afraid of us until we stand up against him!   v.16 – Go back to the “old paths.” We have abandoned the old paths to walk the way of the world! We must return to the way of God!   Let’s simplify! Do you love God!? Then keep His commandments!   We have to learn to say, “no.” The Holy Spirit warns us but we ignore Him! We don’t even seem to recognize the voice of God!   We can do great things if we stay connected together and to God! Whenever you get lost, go back to the beginning!

The enemy has been trying to ruin our relationship with God since the garden. God wants it back!   God was walking with Adam. They had an intimate, personal relationship! Imagine His pain when Adam hid himself from Him because he had sinned. Adam had allowed the enemy to break his relationship with God. God wants the relationship with us back! He wants the fellowship back!   We hurt Him because we let the enemy cast doubt. Because of our sin, God had to send His son! He had to send his precious lamb because we listened to the enemy instead of God.   We must want that relationship back. We must desire that safety back!   We must repent for taking our relationship with God for granted. There’s nothing as precious as our relationship with God.

We’ve got to get back to the right path so that our homes can be in order, our community can be in order, our nation can be in order!   Don’t look for a crowd when you decide to do right! Sometimes you will feel all alone, even in your own house!   If you don’t read your word, you won’t get true affirmation!   We need to ask God for a new heart then we won’t want to do the things that hurt him! God judges a nation while the nation exists.   There are some changes in your life that will NOT take place until you first get into the right place with God! You must first return to the old paths.

Jeremiah 17:9-10

9The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?

10I the LORD search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings.

So if we can’t know our hearts, surely we are unable to change it.   Why not allow the creator of our very being to have his way with us this new year.   Become more pliable and mold-able in the hands of our maker, I think we will be highly impressed with what we end up with!   Those things that we don’t like about ourselves, whether weight or just attitude are nothing for God to handle, most of all he loves us just as we are because he knows just what to do to fix us; if we could only get out of the way.

2011 may have been filled with life changing events, natural disasters and wars coming to an end; but 2012 will usher in a new era of events.   We’ll elect a president, we’ll have changes in government and some of us will change jobs, homes and maybe partners?   The main thing is to keep our relationship with Christ constant, yet improving every minute!

Are you really ready for the new year and a new you?   Whether or not we’re ready for the new year it’s coming but if we’re not ready for a new us; we’ll go through this new year the same old way!   “Not so” is what I say to my self!   I am determined to allow God to do his thing on me, what ever he wants to do! Let go and Let God!

Say it with me, “I want a fresh anointing for this new season”!

Matthew 2:1 – 14

I don’t how many of neglected to focus on the press of the wise men?   Just taking a deeper look as to there original location in respect to where they had to travel to reach and then worship the child (Christ)!   It wasn’t a simple journey for them either, I know we are all used to talking about the struggle Mary & Joseph had just finding a place to give birth. The Nativity Story is the best depiction of the biblical version of the story I have ever seen. It literally brought tears to my eyes as I watched.   I found myself drawn into that era as if I were really there witnessing this amazing event right in front to me.   If gave me a much deeper appreciation for God’s gift and Christ sacrifice!

It brought a visual to the message brought forth by Pastor Smith that gave so much power and meaning to her sermon.   The whole concept of the press of the wise men stuck with me, not to mention there connection and obedience to the spirit of God when instructed not to go back to Herod, but to travel home a different way.   How many of us would be willing to leave the familiar and comfortable to do the abnormal and difficult thing when instructed?   There obedience not only aided in preserving the life of our Savior but quite possibly their own lives? We meant enough for God to give his son and we meant enough for His son to willingly come and give his life; what a gift!   How can we with hold anything from such a King as that?

We must confuse the enemy by keeping our spiritual ears open and being willing to “go another way”.   Let’s not forget the sole purpose for the wise men’s pressing was to bring the Savior a blessing!   Are we willing to press pass the struggle to bless God as he so willingly blesses us?

I loved when Pastor Smith said “wise men still seek him”!

Highly Favored

Favored – endowed with special advantages or gifts, 2. enjoying special advantages; privileged:Treated or thought of with great kindness or partiality.

Being favored already has it’s privileges but what does being highly favored encompass? For Mary it was being chosen to bring forth the Savior of the World. How awesome that had to be for a young girl like Mary. How special and inadequate she had to feel at the same time.   I often think about how I feel being blessed to say he lives inside of me, knowing how unworthy I am.   The awesome favor the comes with persecutions.   While we’ll feel closer to our Savior and our Heavenly Father we will find ourselves feeling somewhat isolated from others.

We’ll find that not many are completely willing to walk where this favor will lead! While we’ll have access to all of heavens power we will also experience a loanliness that’s inexplainable to the natural man, those that are spiritual already understand for they too are carrying the same cross (supposedly)? This life with all it’s struggles will seem like a blink once we reach our eternal destiny.   While we prepare to celebrate the birth of our Savior let’s not forget that he’s no longer that vulnerable baby but he is the almighty King that sits on the throne!

Enjoy your family, your friends, your gifts and your meals, but don’t forget to enjoy Jesus!

God’s Favor – Donald Lawrence & Tri City

Favored

Luke 2:1-7

Why was Mary chosen?

She was:

1. HIGHLY FAVORED

Luke 1:26

26And in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God unto a city of Galilee, named Nazareth,

Luke 1:30

30And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God.

She was favored to carry the son of God just as each one of us is favored to carry the Spirit of God.

2. WILLING

Luke 1:38

38And Mary said, Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word. And the angel departed from her.

She accepted the assignment from God just as we must accept the assignment! The greatest gift we can give Jesus is a willing vessel! If we have really become the gift to give Jesus then He gets to do with us he pleases. We must be willing to carry the deliverer!

Luke 1:40-41

40And entered into the house of Zacharias, and saluted Elisabeth.  41And it came to pass, that, when Elisabeth heard the salutation of Mary, the babe leaped in her womb; and Elisabeth was filled with the Holy Ghost:

If we carry the deliverer, our voice shall usher in the spirit of God. The world seems to have so much power because we do not use the power we have within us! We must speak out! We must begin to bind and loose! God promised that if we bind and loose here on earth that He would bind and loose those things in Heaven! People don’t have to be lost because we have the answer.

Luke 1:43

43And whence is this to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me?

v. 43 as followers of Christ, if we walk in His authority and in his anointing, people will recognize that we are carrying the deliverer!

3. SHE BELIEVED

Luke 1:45

45And blessed is she that believed: for there shall be a performance of those things which were told her from the Lord.

Because she believed, the manifestation was on its way!

Isaiah 54:17

17No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is of me, saith the LORD.

We will face hardships, endure attacks and suffer pain but we will be victorious! The enemy meant to kill you but he couldn’t do it! The weapons will form, you may feel the pain of it but it won’t kill us!

Remembering Martin

He was born on January 15th 1929 and was killed on April 4th, 1968.
He was born on January 15th 1929 and was killed on April 4th, 1968.

Martin was a man of honor and a man of convictions willing to put the needs of others before his and even sometimes his families.   Knowingly putting his life in danger he continue the plight of racial justice at his expense.   He was a man of faith, lead and empowered by the morals that so many   Christians follow today.   We honor the memory of the man, but we know that the true honor goes to God for giving us the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

“5 Things You Need to Know…” About Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, 2011

January 15 marks what would have been the 81st birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The first national celebration of the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday took place January 20, 1986 and is observed on the third Monday of January each year. This year as usual his birthday comes with some controversy, some schools have chosen to use this holiday to make up snow day.   I am sure that if Martin himself were alive he would say go to school; because he himself was an highly educated black man. Based on his legacy and the turns his fight for justice took even to fight to have black and white kids go to school together.   Education is one of our most powerful weapons, “knowledge is power”.

Proverbs 4:7  (King James Version)

Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.

The Absence of Water Could Kill

With this month being known for it’s April showers, I thought it appropriate to talk about the importance water plays in our everyday lives.   Please follow the link, read & enjoy.

A lot of our skin problems, hair problems and even some health issues could be a direct result of poor water consumption. Once we educate ourselves as to the importance water plays in even our thought process we will learn to not only drink but appreciate water.   Something as simple as drinking more water could even result in weight loss without lifting a finger to exercise.   Water helps to cleanse the inside as well as the outside.   Click the link below to read my full article written for associated content..

Ephesians 5:26

26That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,

John 4:14

14But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.

Lifted Up!

No bunny could have taken the fall

For Jesus Christ paid for it all

It was his blood that set us free

Not some eggs from the Easter bunny

No bonnets, or flowers or some Easter dress

Could have saved us from this evil mess

I know we say the kids need fun

But no fun could be won without the Son

The Son is the light that lights the way

Without the Son there would be no day

He is the one that paid the price

To give a bunny the credit, do you think that’s nice?

How would you like to suffer for all you see

Be beaten and die to set all free

Only to be forgotten till trouble comes their way

Then it’s to you they learn to pray

And as soon as the trouble is no more

You are no longer the one they’re looking for

To me it’s a shame and a disgrace

The actions and deeds of this human race

Let’s end it now, let’s realize we’re his creation

Let’s start recognizing the true celebration.”

Even Jesus wanted to pass the bitter cup

But he finished his assignment and was lifted up!

John 11:25

25Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:
