Words From My Father – Acknowledging the Lord

Lord, thank you for blessing this nation, this land

For keeping us by the power of your mighty hand

For being the source of wisdom and love

and showering it down on us from above

Like the wise men who followed your star

many flock to these shores from nations afar

This basic truth, as many of us know

the word of God confirms it to be so!

Wise men still seek Jesus!

Some of these poems may have been directed toward specific individuals, but like The Word of God, have a message for all. May you be as blessed in your reading, as the one who penned them.

Ecclesiastes 12:11 (KJV)

11The words of the wise are as gods, and as nails fastened by the masters of assemblies, which are given from one shepherd.

When is seems someone has done me wrong,
God uses it to make me strong.
When I get upset by what I’ve heard,
Then it’s time to go to God’s Holy Word;

Trust in the Lord and never doubt,
He’s always there to lead you out.
When things happen that you don’t understand,
Put all your cares in God’s loving hand.

Keep faith in God, and never sway;
And God’s word, you must always obey.
Then your peace to many may seem odd;
But you’re walking in the favor and grace of God.

Ecclesiastes 12:11 (KJV)

11The words of the wise are as gods, and as nails fastened by the masters of assemblies, which are given from one shepherd.

There was a man named Jim, He was a good old boy,
Had no time for things of God, for fishing was his joy.
When his wife would go to church, here’s what Jim would say:
“Don’t have time for that stuff, I’m going fishing today.”

Then Jim got sick in bed; he asked the “Doc” for his answer.
He said: “Jim you don’t have long to live, for you have terminal cancer.”
Jim’s wife went to the Lord, to see what he would say.
He said “you tell old Jim, that I’ve gone fishing today.

Jim said: “If God won’t help me, then what else can I do?”
Jim’s wife said: “Don’t you know, God’s gone fishing for you?
You see when God goes fishing, what seems to you a lure;
Through you faith and trust in him, could very well be the cure.”

Now it’s many years later, and Jim is a changed man.
Now when his wife goes to church, then they go hand in hand.
The message in Jim’s story, that applies to me and you.”
Put the Lord first in everything, and he will see you through.

Ecclesiastes 12:11 (KJV)

11The words of the wise are as gods, and as nails fastened by the masters of assemblies, which are given from one shepherd.

Traveling this road of life can sometimes feel like pain.

When I sought for sunshine, I only found the rain.

I longed for a meadow to rest, but found a mountain in the way.

Oh, I thought within my soul, there must be a brighter day.

The many rivers I had to cross, gave me no cause to gloat;

I grew so tired from swimming; If only I had owned a boat.

Being weary from all my trials, then to the Lord I cried.

But he, instead of making it easy, showed me the other side.

I saw a man dry and withered, crying out in his pain.

He had laid out in the sunshine, not realizing he needed rain.

I saw a man surrounded by hills, seeming confused just marking time.

Since he avoided all his mountains, he never learned to climb.

I saw a man drowning in sin; I asked, “what’s wrong with him?”

He said, “He stayed on his boat, and never learned to swim.”

I thanked the Lord for all the trials that I had to face.

By persevering through all my trials; I am able to finish the race.

Not just one day, but through all our days,
We should joyfully give God all the praise.

For gifts come not by what we can afford,
Buy by the goodness and grace of Jesus our Lord.

So thanks be to God for all that he has done.
For most of all giving his only begotten son.

Let us therefore remember always to pray.
And let everyday be a Thanks-giving Day.

Ecclesiastes 12:11 (KJV)

11The words of the wise are as gods, and as nails fastened by the masters of assemblies, which are given from one shepherd.

There was a time in my life when I just could not see.
I thought the things that happened, were just because of me.

Sometimes I felt great, just looking at my success;
But when I looked around, my life was just a mess.

There seemed to be something missing, and that to me was odd.
When I started searching, then I heard the voice of God.

He invited me to be a part of His heavenly plan;
and learn the true relationship He intended for man.

So I gave up my selfish ways, submitting my life to Him.
Thanks to the light of Jesus, the way is no longer dim.

I learned to trust in Him doing everything His way.
Allowing even the words of my mouth, to be what He would say.

So now when I make plans, I use the Bible as my guide.
I thank the Lord for everything, putting aside my pride.

When I go to Him in truth, I know I will be heard;
And every question in my life is answered in His word.

"When he broke it down to me, I was so convicted..."

I asked the Lord one day: Why we as Christians seem to have so many differences? He said: It’s because you are not living by my word. When he broke it down to me, I was so convicted. In the following poem, the Lord has allowed me to share my conviction with you. Some scripture references are included to authenticate what is being said.

I didn’t realize what I had done, (Proverbs 3:5-6)
Till I read Psalm 127:1 (Read it)

It was then, only, that I really heard, (Proverbs 18-15)
What God was saying in his Word. (Matthew 4:4)

How could I, being just a mere man, (Proverbs 21:2)
Expect almighty God to work my plan? (Jeremiah 29:11-13)

How could I true wisdom know, (Proverbs 9:9-10)
Except the spirit of God told me so? (John 16:13)

No longer will I follow my every whim,
but in love surrender my thoughts to him. (Proverbs 16:3)

Not relying on things in the world I’ve heard,
but trusting and obeying God’s every word (2 Timothy 3:16)

God’s word is truth, to what we all agree (Deuteronomy 32:4)
but when we walk in it, that’s when we see

That walking by faith, as God’s word we obey (Galations 2:16)
We can look to receive, whatever we say (Matthew 17:20, 28:21-22)

and Knowing our Father in heaven above (1 John 4:15-16)
We can walk in power, filled with His Love (1 John 4:18)

That the power of Jesus may touch every man (Luke 10:19)
As we walk following God’s heavenly plan (Ecclesiastes 12:13)
